Who Knew That A Day In The Park Could Bring So Much Joy?

I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the beauty of nature (in a good way.) Today I went to this gorgeous park around the corner from my house and went for a walk through the nature trails. After about 45 minutes of walking, I decided to take a break on a park bench overlooking a small lake. There's something very hypnotic about watching the ripples on a lake. When I stare long enough, I feel like I enter into a deep trance, where my conscious mind is no longer in charge. My subconscious becomes awakened and begins to soak up the beautiful sites and sounds that surround me. I move my eyes slowly to the trees in front of me and admire how the sun shines so luminescently on the golden yellow and amber autumn leaves. The cool breeze plays with my hair like a curious child and brings a smile to my face. The smell of firewood burning off in the distance brings back beautiful childhood memories of campfires with the family. Ahhh, it's all so lovely. :)

Today, as I sat on this park bench, breathing, observing and taking in the lifeforce energy around me, I noticed a child (probably about 10 metres away) staring at me with a small smile on her face. She was the cutest little Asian girl I've ever seen. If she wasn't so bouncy, I'd swear she was a little porcelain doll. After about two minutes of eye contact and non-stop smiles, she walked over to me with her mom and said, “I like you. Will you be my friend?” That put the biggest smile on my face. I said, “Of course I'll be your friend,” while her mom laughed. I was curious why she decided to come up to me in particular. I'm some big adult sitting on a bench. There were many other adults and children all around. What was it about me? Now, this girl was probably about three years old, and what she said truly astounded me! She reached her hand out, placed it on my knee and said, “I want to be your friend because I love you and I know you love me. We come from the same place. I just know it.” My mouth just about dropped open. Her mother said, “Wow, kids say the darndest things, huh? Ok Katelyn, time to go. We gotta go pick up your brother from school.” She picked her daughter up, said, “It was nice meeting you”, and started to walk away. I didn't know what to do. It didn't seem appropriate to run after this woman, and say, “Your daughter is amazing. I'd love to hang out with you two. I think we have a connection here!” Instead, I sat there smiling, feeling so overwhelmed with emotion that tears began to roll down my cheeks.

Now, I've heard of “Crystal Children” who are deemed by New Agers to be the new “breed” of children. They are the new generation of Lightworkers, who are naturally very wise, intuitive, loving and are able to see and feel the energy of others. They are here basically to raise the consciousness of the planet. Could it be that this Katelyn girl was a Crystal Child? It certainly appeared that way! She said that we come from the same place. Could she mean that we ALL come from the same place? Or perhaps she was referring to our relationship in particular. Maybe we both come from the same planet or dimension originally. Who knows? All I know is that when you stay open to life and all its beauty, magic and mystery, life surprises you in ways you never could have imagined.

Connecting with nature is one of my favourite ways to tune into myself and allow myself to vibrate at higher levels. I feel that nature does lift me up because its energy is just so pure. Perhaps Katelyn was sensing my high vibrating energy, and that's what drew her to me? I'm hoping I'll run into her someday soon, but until then, I'm going to keep doing my thang... you know, soaking up nature in all its glory, keeping my heart and soul open to life's magic, and going with the flow of life. :)

  1. Amazing story... and it doesn't surprise me that she picked you out. If nothing else, certainly sounds like a soul connection was made. Wonderful!

  7. Really enjoyed reading your post Leija!
Nature is just so amazing it's a shame how some people don't just experience the small things like sitting in the park, instead they are more focused on materialistic things :( Ah well you prove that nature is pretty much all we need :D

  8. I was watching some of your videos on Youtube and saw the one linking to this entry. I had a similar experience a few years ago. I was at the grocery store, and I think I was having a bad day. While in the store, a woman came up to me with perhaps her three or four year old daughter. I'll preface this next part by explaining that I have dwarfism, and am only 4.5 feet tall. The woman told me that her daughter noticed that I was special and wanted to know if she could give me a hug. Fighting back the tears, I knelt down and let this beautiful pure soul give me a hug. It's something that has indelibly touched me forever.

  9. Reading this reminded me of a moment I had with a "star brother." It was at a picnic gathering and I was exchanging introductions with many people, but there was one guy who I felt like I knew for a long time.

At first we exchanged a formal introduction, but then we looked into each others eyes and knew immediately we came from the same place. It was as if time froze and without a second thought exchanged blessings on our spiritual path and shared a "soul connection" for lack of a better term.

What's interesting is this memory has remained hidden until now when I read about your experience. Thanks for allowing me to re-member my connection to the cosmos :)
